Next Steps: Membership

We don’t view this as getting your name put on some list at the church office. Membership is about joining a family that is united in belief and purpose in order to experience Jesus and share Him with the world. Members at Mt. Pisgah are united biblically, sharing common views about God and His Word. We are also united in our mission and philosophy and vision for reaching our community and world. Members fight for unity so that we can faithfully live out the gospel together for the sake of the world.

Qualifications of a Membership

  • A personal commitment of faith in Jesus Christ for salvation
  • Baptism by immersion as a testimony for salvation

What are the Benefits of Membership?

Membership is a pathway for people to be equipped. It is a way of creating more room to include, empower, and release people for service. It provides a platform for people to grow in their love for God and their service to others. Membership pushes us to be authentic in our mission, it provides accountability for those in leadership, and for the people they serve. It also destroys the idea that Christianity is just me and Jesus; it moves us towards seeing church as a community or family.

How do I Become a Member?

Step 1:

Present yourself for membership during any Worship Service when the invitation is given. Our Pastor will invite those who desire to become members to come to the front of the Worship Center. A minister will greet you and introduce you a friend, who will accompany you to a quieter place where you will be guided in your decision.

Step 2:

Express your desire for membership through one of the following means:

Profession of Faith If you have never received Jesus as Savior and Lord and/or never publically confessed Him, you will be given an opportunity to do so. After your decision has been confirmed, an appointment will be made for your baptism at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.

Transfer of Membership If you are currently a member of another Southern Baptist Church, we will receive you are a member upon promise of a letter from that church. Mount Pisgah Baptist Church will contact that church to notify them of your decision and request your letter.

By Statement of Faith If you have previously made a public decision, acknowledging that you have received Christ as your Savior and Lord, we will be happy to receive you. It will be necessary for you to be baptized at Siloam of you have never been baptized scripturally (as a believer, by immersion, in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as a symbol of your salvation).
